How we compare domain prices
What the numbers mean
- 1st year — the price any new buyer pays today for one year, before coupons and taxes. Coupons and new-customer-only offers are listed under the registrar, not in the number.
- Renewal — the standard price to renew for one more year.
- Transfer — the price to move an existing domain in. Usually adds a year to the registration.
- 3 years — 1st year + 2 × renewal. Every table is ranked by this; ties go to the lower renewal.
Where prices come from
We check each registrar once a day (around 03:00 UTC), store every price change, and show the date on every page. If a registrar can't be checked, we keep the last price with its date, flag it after 3 days and remove it after 14.
- Cloudflare: Cloudflare's at-cost price list via cfdomainpricing.com's public JSON feed.
- Porkbun: Porkbun's public pricing API.
- Dynadot: Dynadot's public price list (dynadot.com/domain/prices).
- IONOS: IONOS US public price list (ionos.com/domains/domain-name-prices).
Our checker identifies itself as getcheapdomains-pricebot, respects robots.txt, and makes one request per registrar per day. We never get around bot protection.
Registrars not compared yet
- Namecheap — blocks automated price checks; waiting on API access or an affiliate product feed.
- GoDaddy — blocks automated price checks; waiting on developer API access.
- Spaceship — blocks automated price checks; waiting on API access.
- Name.com — price list needs an API account; waiting on access.
- Squarespace — prices only load in the browser; adding soon.
- Hostinger — publishes prices for only a few TLDs; adding soon.
How we make money
Some "Buy" links may become affiliate links, which pay us a commission when you buy, at no extra cost to you. Affiliate status never changes the ranking. Cloudflare and Porkbun pay us nothing and are shown first whenever they're cheapest. Get Cheap Domains is run by Rogue Wombat Software Pty Ltd (Australia).
Corrections
Prices change and registrars run flash sales. If you see a price that doesn't match the registrar's checkout, email hello@getcheapdomains.com and we'll fix it.
